Kevin's comments: Berton Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet is a wine of restrained power with an intense, ripe berry bouquet with hints of chocolate and liquorice. The palate fills with crushed blackcurrant fruit flavours over the typical herbaceous characters of eucalyptus and mint and is beautifully complemented by excellent French oak.
BERTON RESERVE COONAWARRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Berton Vineyard is located near the village of Eden Valley, in High Eden, a sub-region of the Eden Valley in South Australia. This is a region of rugged beauty straddling the ridge that is the divide between the Eden Valley and the Barossa. At this altitude, the cool climate provides ideal conditions for the production of high quality fruit.
Berton Vineyards was established by Cherie and Bob Berton in 1996. Since then the company has expanded to include Chief Winemaker, James Ceccato, Finance Director, Jamie Bennett, Sales Director, Paul Bartholomaeus and Business Manager, Rachael Wood. Bob Berton is Managing Director. All have long experience in the wine industry and who, together with Bob and Cherie, consitute a closely knit and determined team.
This year the company has expanded further through the acquisition of a modern 20,000 tonne winery in Yenda, NSW.
Australia has forged an enviable reputation for huge unrestrained flavours that are exemplified by this wine.
