Perez Cruz Cabernet Sauvignon
A family owned winery situated in the superior Alto-Maipo region of Chile, earmarked to be the area with most potential for developing Chile’s leading premium wines. From the first vintage in 2002, President Andres Perez Cruz has seen the estate’s speciality red wine amass an impressive array of awards and gold medals. Situated among the foothill of the Andes Mountains, their 140 hectres of vines are positioned in the highest area above sea level at which grapes can be grown.
With a Mediterranean climate of rainy winters and dry summers, the vineyards are ideal for healthy grape production. Their ecofriendly winery was built specifically, by award winning architect Jose Cruz Ovalle, to fulfil the technical objective of fine wine production. Its wooden roof and natural light allow thermal isolation and free air flow circulation, making Perez Cruz one of the most unique boutique estates in the world.
Vinification: Grapes are handpicked and selected before being gently crushed and cold macerated in stainless steel tanks. The skins are pumped over during fermentation and macerated for 24 days. The wine is then aged in oak barrel for 12 months.
