CHÂTEAU BATAILLEY GRAND CRU CLASSÉ
AC PAUILLAC

Château Batailley is one of the oldest buildings in Pauillac and it has always appeared on the regional maps. The name is derived from the battles that took place during the 14th century on the plateau giving access to the nearby Château Latour. The Château is a fifth growth of the 1855 and the Castéja family's flagship.

The Château was re-styled in the 18th century, entailing the construction of vast cellars for ageing the wines. The Château is surrounded by a park covering 6 hectares which was redesigned in the 19th century by Barillet-Deschamps, the landscape gardener to Napoléon III.

Batailley's wine is an intensive Pauillac typically with blackcurrant and a robust body.
