Kevin's comments: Very elegant Pinot nose of raspberries together with balanced oak, firm tannins on the palate and gorgeous length. The epitome of fine Burgundy.
Chateau Tasting Notes
Volnay 1er Cru Clos de Chenes Domaine Rene Monnier
DOMAINE RENE MONNIER
The Monnier family has built up one of the biggest private domaines in the Cote de Beaune - 45 acres of vineyards in the best crus of the Cote de Beaune and is now in the hands of the tenth generation. Great attention is paid to limiting the yields in the vineyards in order to guarantee the best possible quality of juice with the correct balance between fruit and acidity. The reds are fermented for as long as possible at a high temperature in order to extract plenty of colour. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, 1/3 of which are new each year.. The Rene Monnier name is well known in "three star" restaurants.
