| Kevin's comments: Good weight of plummy fruit, well structured with firm tannins and some complexity. |
DOMAINE DE LA SOLITUDE COTES DU RHONE
The catch-all appellation for the huge spread of Southern Rhone vineyards is Cotes du Rhone. The area covers a total of 82,750 acres of vineyards in more than 100 communes north of Avignon, describing a rough circle among the low hills surrounding the widening Rhone. It leaves out only the alluvial lower land around the river itself. In an average year, it makes more than twice as much wine as the appellation Beaujolais. In such an ocean of wine, there are several estates that set standards of their own and DOMAINE DE LA SOLITUDE, owned by the Lancon family, is one of these. The family owns 100 acres of vineyards at Sabran, in the Cotes du Rhone, making light, easy drinking wine.
