Kevin's comments: A 40% proportion of Roussanne in the blend makes this a creamy, full-flavoured wine with well balanced acidity.
DOMAINE DE LA BECASSONNE ANDRE BRUNEL, RHONE
A family owned Estate comprising of 22 hectares in Chateauneuf du Pape and 11 hectares in the Cotes du Rhone. Andre Brunel makes wines from Estate grown grapes as well as grapes from his neighbouring growers that he tends in the vineyards. Brunel's hallmark is fruit emphasis with balanced tannins and the fruit flavours lingering through to a long finish. The 1998 vintage was exceptional in the Rhone.
DOMAINE DE LA BECASSONE COTES DU RHONE BLANC
Grape Varieties: 40% Roussanne, 40% Clairette and 20% Grenache Blanc
Age of Vines: 20-30 years old vines planted in the clay and chalk soil around Sorgues situated 6km south of Chateauneuf du Pape.
Harvest: From mid to end of September.
Vinification: Each grape variety was fermented separately in temperature controlled Vats lasting 15 to 20 days. The wine did not go through malolactic fermentation. The different cuvees were blended together at the end of January following the harvest and the whole wine was bottled at the end of February.
Serve: Chilled as an aperitif or to or to accompany fish cooked in sauces and light cheese.
Tasting A creamy, full-flavoured wine with well-balanced acidity and a long Notes: finish.
