Chateau Tasting Notes
DEINHARD, KOBLENZ, GERMANY
In 1794, Johann Friedrich Deinhard founded the Deinhard Company in Koblenz, the town at the cornerstone of the fine wines of the Mosel and the Rhine. He was well ahead of his time. His vision and foresight gave him international success and he was without equal, developing markets in over 20 countries around the world. The name Deinhard became a household name, respected for quality and value worldwide.
In response to changing tastes in wine around the world, Deinhard has carried out a comprehensive review of its range in order to enter the new millennium with wines that are of clearly recognisable international quality.
At the forefront are Green Label Mosel and Hanns Christof Rhine wines. The talented winemaker has blended the wines from these two areas. . His aim was to demonstrate the very individual qualities of these two classic areas.
To reflect growing interest in varietals, Deinhard has introduced Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, packaged in clear Bordeaux shaped bottles and with classically elegant labels. Each wine is a clear expression of individual varietal flavours.
As a supreme example of the best in German winemaking Deinhard D No.1 is a blend of Spatlese and Auslese wines. Based mainly on Riesling grapes, the taste is made more complex by the addition of Pinot Blanc. This is a "Super German" wine and sets new standards.
