58443 Coleccion Torrentes de Cafayate 2010/11

£8.44

Kevin's comments: Coleccion Torrontes has a spicy, fresh tropical fruit character with hints of lychees and a crisp finish. Less intense than Gewurztraminer and an ideal partner to Oriental cuisine.

COLECCION MICHEL TORINO
TORRONTES, CAFAYATTE

This partly owned family company has recently embarked on a serious investment programme at the winery and has also planted 1,500 hectares of vineyards.

The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in Northwest Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of this country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making them the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta red wines is the great intensity of colour while the white wines, Torrontes in particular, are fresh and appealing.

Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation.

Grape Variety: 100% Torrontes

Growing Area: Michel Torino's own vineyards at an altitude of 1,700m above sea level, in the Valley of Cafayate, Province of Salta, North-western Argentina. Fermentation: At 18°C In stainless steel tanks.

Tasting notes: Delicate yellow colour. Exuberant aromas of tropical fruits with some floral hints. Rich fruity mouth with typical flavours of this grape variety. Good balance between fruit and acidity. Very fresh and crisp finish.

Serve: Ideal as an aperitif. Also recommended with shellfish or chicken, and especially with sweet-sour dishes and Asian-inspired food and sweet sauces.

Cellaring Potential: Drink young to enjoy the fresh aromas and crisp taste of this wine.
