MICHEL TORINO, CAFAYATE, ARGENTINA
This partly owned family company has recently embarked on a serious investment programme at the winery and has also planted 1,500 hectares of vineyards.
The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in Northwest Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of this country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making them the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta red wines is the great intensity of colour while the white wines, Torrontes in particular, are fresh and appealing.
Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation.

Grapes: 100% Torrontes.
Note: The Torrontes grape is a typically Argentinean variety, which has found in the Cafayate Valley its ideal habitat. It originated from Spain and was brought to Argentina in the 17th century. This grape variety only found in the north of Argentina, has a strong and pleasant bouquet.
Winemaking: The estate grown grapes were manually harvested. The grapes were pneumatically pressed using a Willmess press. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at 18oC.
Colour: Yellow with green tinges.
Serve: Chilled as an aperitif or to accompany shellfish, chicken in creamy sauces and spicy food such as Mexican and Indian.
Taste: A wine of good body with concentrated aromas and flavours that build from start to finish. An intriguing aroma of rose water and delicate fruit flavours make this a very elegant wine.
