Carmen Gewurztraminer Reserva Casablanca
Winery information: Pioneering, energetic, cosmopolitan, elegant, innovative and contemporary, Vina Carmen was the first producer in Chile to specialize in organic grapes. They were responsible for identifying Carmenere, which had previously been thought of as Merlot. They were among the first to produce – to acclaim – premium Chilean wines. From the winery in the Maipo Valley, and using primary fruit from that area, as well as carefully-sited vineyards in Rapel, Casablanca and Curico, Carmen have produced a series of fruit-driven wines, stylish both in taste and look, which are stunning in their intensity and purity of their aromas.
Viticulture: The grapes were handpicked from our estate vineyards in Casablanca Valley, the Pacific Ocean influence over the vineyards helps to reach ripeness slowly accumulating great acidity and freshness.
Vinification: Once crushed the grapes were cold macerated in the press for 10 hours, after this cold maceration the grapes were gently pressed. The juice was clarified at low temperatures and racked for alcoholic fermentation carrying its fine lees.
Tasting Note: Fully aromatic on the nose this wine is rich and crispy with mandarin and orange peel aromas, intense roses, melon, mango, lychee and Turkish delight. The palate is fresh and complex, mineral tones adding a vibrant edge. A rich and soft wine with a persistent long finish.
Every day serving suggestion: Enjoy this wine with seafood and fish with seasoning sauces as well as Asian spiced cuisine. Matches perfectly with sweet desserts.
