BODEGAS ONDARRE, RIOJA
Bodegas Ondarre, whose winery is in Viana, 10 kilometres from Logro, Rioja's capital, has all the advantages of a bodega which was conceived and designed with a new philosophy, and equipped with the very latest vinification equipment, housed in spacious, tastefully designed buildings. The whole process of production and ageing, from the arrival of the grapes at the winery through to the extraction of the must, its fermentation at low temperatures and the selection of locally-produced yeasts is carried out with the most advanced equipment while maintaining a respect for well-tried, traditional methods and the old wisdom of the Bodegueros of the Rioja which have given such fame a prestige to the wines of the region. Bodegas Ondarre is, without doubt, one of the most modern bodegas in the Rioja rivalling the most advanced in the world.
Grapes: 90% Viura + 10% local varieties including Malvasia and white Garnacha
Vinification: The grapes were softly pressed and then the must was fermented in new oak casks at a temperature of 12-16C. After racking the wine was kept on its lees for more than 2 months with occasional stirring of the lees . Colour: Bright pale golden yellow Serve: Chilled with hors d'oeuvres, creamy pasta dishes fish and shellfish.
Taste: A spicy wine with ripe fruit and vanilla tones and an elegant and long finish
