Kevin's comments: Made from Garnacha and Tempranillo. This wine has an intense and complex bouquet with spice and truffles on the palate and buttery vanilla tones coming from 12 months ageing in oak. Presented in the traditional gold-wired bottle.
Chateau Tasting Notes
TORRELONGARES RESERVA DOC CARINENA
Carinena, a town in north east Spain lends its name to the oldest DO in Aragon and also to the Carignan grapes widely grown in southern France. It is located near Zaragoza. The vineyards are planted in the Sierras de Algairen and Serrallon at an altitude of 600m
The grapes cultivated in this up-and-coming area are Garnacha, Tempranillo, Macabeo, Mazuela, Vidadillo and Almonacid. Each variety has its own characteristics that are influenced by the soil and climate. In general the climate can be seen as arid with an average rainfall of 350mm per annum. The summers are hot and the winters cold. There is plenty of sunshine throughout the year with a dry wind called El Cierzoa.
For all stages of winemaking Covinca use the latest equipment such as temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, pneumatic presses and horizontal de-stalkers and have an impressive cellar where the wines mature in American and French oak casks.
