Stella Blanco Dry Muscat
Kevin's comments: Fresh and fragrant grapey character from the Muscat grape, well balanced and crisp on the finish. One of my favourite whites of this year, perfect with any type of spicy dishes, Thai, Chinese, Curry or even full flavoured fish!
Chateau Tasting Notes
SANTO ISIDRO DE PEGÕES, STELLA BLANCO DRY MUSCAT VINHO REGIONAL TERRAS DO SADO
This cooperative was founded in 1958 and covers a total of 900 hectares. It is owned by hundreds of small farmers and production is 74% red, of which 94% is Castelao and 26% white. Over the last fifteen years, the cooperative has followed a systematic strategy of modernisation and financial consolidation with the key objective of continuously improving the quality of its wines. During this period, they have spent around seven million Euros in purchasing new vinification equipment, a new bottling line and improving their cellars for ageing wine as well as installing new computerisation.
The region, located in the Setubal Peninsular, is unique in its climate and soil conditions which give rise to the character of the wines of this area.
The soil called Pliocenico de Pegoes is a sandy soil formed over millions of years by sand transported by the rivers Tagus and Sado.
Nowadays, Pegoes is a modern and competitive winery recognised both in the domestic and international markets, winning many awards worldwide. The wines have been stylishly repackaged for this year.
