Kevin's comments: Altimus means "the highest" in Latin and is a tribute to the Cafayete valley, which at 1700 m above sea level is one of the highest places where vines grow . Altimus was bottled unfiltered to protect its natural qualities;maintaining a perfect balance between fruit and oak. A lovely combination of red berry fruits, plums, vanilla and tobacco.
MICHEL TORINO ALTIMVS
Michel Torino has recently embarked on a serious investment programme at the winery and has also planted 500Ha of vineyards in the last 3-4 years.
The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in North-West Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of the country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making the some of the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta reds are their intensity of colour while the white wines, Torrontes in particular, are fresh and appealing. Michel Torino is also working towards total organic vineyard production.
Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation.
