TELTECA MALBEC
Telteca has carried out extensive investment in the winery and in their marketing approach over the last two years. Founded as a family company in 1936, the winery is now owned by one of the largest corporations in Argentina. All grapes are sourced from their own vineyards which extend to 800 ha. and harvesting is done partly by hand and partly by machine. Great investment has recently been made in the the vineyards through planting of noble varieties and improvements in vine growing techniques. The winery has also benefited with the installation of new crushing and stem removal machinery, as well as new pneumatic presses and new cooling equipment. Italians form Argentina’s second largest population, hence the Italian origins of many of their grape types, which give a welcome alternative to the classic varieties grown throughout the world.
Smart packaging, good quality and very reasonable prices make these wines difficult to refuse.
TELTECA MALBEC
Grapes: 100% Malbec
Viticulture: The vines are planted at 603 metres above sea level. The vines are trained on a high spalier method. The production is restricted to ensure the quality of the fruit.
Vinification: The grapes are handpicked and then cold macerated for 75 hours to obtain an excellent aromatic extraction. Part of the wine is aged in oak barrels, part in temperature controlled tanks until the final blend is made before bottling.
Taste: Deep red colour with violet tinges. The wine has aromas of elegant ripe prunes and vanilla spice, with red berries on the palate with rounded tannins. A long persistent finish. Serve: Ideal to accompany red meats and spicy pasta dishes.
