Gerard Bertrand wines

Gerard Bertrand wines showcase some amazing wines from the Languedoc in France from this award winning grower.

Gerard Bertrand is one of the most outstanding winemakers in the south of France, where he owns numerous estates amongst the most prestigious crus of Langeudoc Rousillon. Named in 2012 as the IWC Red Wine maker of the year and wine enthusiasts European winery of the year and known as the king of the Languedoc, we firmly believe Gerard will become one of the leading French names in the UK. The overall quality of the wines is stunning and demonstrates the diversity that the south of France offers.

The Cigalus wine in both white and red is from Gerard's personal estate where he lives and these two spectacular wines are both organic and biodynamic, a fact that Gerarc is very proud of.

In addition to producing some spectacular wines Gerard is also an expert in Rivesaltes and Banyuls and you can buy many different vintages of these wines from many decades.

Gerard made his first vintage at the tender age of 10 where his father explained that if he did every vintage for the next 39 years he woukld have more knowledge than most of the finest winemakers in France and this would hold hiom in great stead for the future. True to this Gerard has worked every vintage since that date and is one of the most skilled wine makers in France. His passion for wine is only exclipsed by his love of the game of rugby. He even has his own pitch at Chateau Hospitalet where he lets his local team train and where he used to train himself.

Chateau Hospitalet is also one of the most amazing places to visit in the Langudoc region of France. There is a fabulous restaurant where you can enjoy a huge variety of the Bertrand wines with saome award winning cuisine. There are also a large number of superb apartments for holidays and conferences. I highly recommend a visit to Chateau Hospitalet the next time you are in this beautiful region of France.
