Majoros Family Estate Wines from Hungary

Laszlo Majoros is one of the rising stars of Hungarian wine. He makes some of the most talked about and sought after Furmints around from grapes grown on the volcanic soils of Tokaj. Stylistically his wines are similar to those of Santorini but with a slight oxidative element. "Ot's my belief that producers in Tokaj haven't yet realized the incredible international marketing appeal of dry Furmint wines" he says. 'Furmint, this unique varietal, is a tru 'diamond in the rough'. I think that says it all"

The Majoros Family Estate is located in one of the most significant and renowned communes of the Tokaj wine region: Tarcal. This village is situated at the base of Mount Tokaj, which is named after the town of Tokaj. Currently we farm 6.0 hectares of vines in 6 different vineyards. 0.85 hectares of ours are waiting to be planted. The final size of the estate will not exceed a maximum of 10 hectares. Our annual production today is around 15-20,000 bottles, which supplies our repeat customers at the estate, wine shops, and restaurants - both in Hungary and abroad. We own 3 cellars at the moment. Two of these cellars are for fermentation and barrel aging. The third one will be converted into a demonstration cellar for receiving guests and conducting tastings.

The two wines from Majoros Birtok we sell at Wineman are the Muscat Blanc and the Tokaj Deak Furmint.
