Andeluna 1300 Malbec 2017, Mendoza, Argentina

It's rare to find wines of such consistency year in, year out, but the Andeluna 1300 Malbec never fails us, vintage after vintage. It's an impeccably judged combination of vibrant, juicy fruit flavours and the richer, more complex qualities that can only come from skilled winemaking and maturation. On the palate This vegan red wine shows notes of strawberry and plums combine with a delicate floral character, finishing with a touch of vanilla and some hallmark Malbec spiciness.

Fantastic value for money, and eminently quaffable. Equal parts party wine, Friday night-in wine, and if you so desire, food wine. Try it with ratatouille or a spicy vegan pizza or if you love meat a delicious Argentinean steak will pair wonderfully.

Following fermentation, the wine was aged for three months in French oak casks, and then matured for a further 3 months in bottle, melding the fruit and oak flavours. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.

Andeluna is a modern, innovative producer based in Mendoza, Argentina. Utilising the best techniques and consultancy from both the Old World and New, they are producing wines of global prestige with forward-thinking and vegan-friendly technology.

Andeluna 1300 Malbec gets it's name from the height of the vineyards of Andeluna, situated 1300 meters above sea level. This is a delightful Malbec and a winner of many awards in competitions throughout the world. It shows complex flavours and an intensity of fruit that is delightful. It can be drunk on it's own or with a good steak. The value for money factor is huge with this Malbec as it punches well above it's weight.

Winery information

Andeluna is a small boutique winery specialising in premium Bordeaux varietals of world class recognition. Their estate owned vineyards are located in the higher altitude vineyards of Tupungato, one of the best subregions of Mendoza. Their wines are under the special care of winemaker Silvio Alberto along with the expert help of French specialist and wine guru, Michel Rolland.

Vinification
After selecting the very best bunches, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in French and American oak for six months and then aged for a further six months in the bottle before release.

Viticulture
Grapes come from our vineyards located in Tupungato at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level. The plants are irrigated by a drop-water system that regulate and supply the exact amount of water that the plant needs.

Tasting Note
This Malbec has great body with roundness and elegance. Intense aromas of cherry, black currant, cassis and vanilla with notes of cherry liqueur and dark chocolate combine with lush flavors of raspberries, spices, chocolate and anise that complement the sweet tannins and produce an exceptional wine with intense fruit notes and a long finish.

Sindy76 | 06/03/2018
I had this wine in a restaurant and it was lovely but am very disappointed with this order. It was nice and spicy and had chocolate notes in the restaurant but didn’t taste like that when I ordered it. It is drinkable but won’t be ordering again. All Can think of is the wine I had was maybe a different year. Maybe it was older which is why it tasted better!!!
Hi Rebecca,

wines often taste different depending on vintage and also environment. It's a pity as this wine is normally lovely, maybe keep them for a while and see if things change for you

I first sampled this wine several years ago at Christmas with the family and a roast goose. The best recommendation I can give is that when the family took a sip after the initial toast everyone at once exclaimed "MMMMMMMMMMMMMM". Excellent value; an order for a dozen arrived the other day! Say no more.
I love that review Roy! We often get similar reactions to our wines and it shows we are doing a decent job in selecting them. try some of the other wines from Andeluna as they are also great value
