Berton Vineyards Metal Label Vermentino 2016

The Metal Label Vermentino from Bob berton is a shining example of how innovative and forward thinking this company is. They realised that Sauvignon Blanc didn't work especially well in the heat of the Yenda and so experimented with other varietals and found a hit with this old Sardinian grape variety. The Metal Label Vermentino has fresh green apple and lime flavours through to a zesty and clean finish.

This wine was included in Matthew Jukes top 100 Australian wines for 2014 and is sure to be one of his firm favourites for his 2015 guide.

Winery Information:

Established by Bob & Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The superb Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility has the capacity to process 10,000 tonnes, and allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.

Viticulture:

All vines have been spur pruned. Vine age is varied. Vines are planted roughly 1.8m apart with 3.6m between the rows to allow machinery access. The trellis system is generally a single wire cordon.

Vinification:

This Vermentino is made in a traditional style, no skin contact, cold settled, fermented under stict cool temperatures, clarified then into bottle to retain its freshness.

Tasting Note:

Berton Vineyards Metal Label Vermentino is a refreshingly vibrant and clean wine, with spicy lemon notes.

Every day serving suggestion:

Enjoy with light seafood dishes such as tempura prawns, or simply on its own!

Vegetarian/Vegan - Yes/Yes

Milk/Eggs - No/No

Contains Sulphites - Yes
