Carmen Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2016

The Carmen Sauvignon Blanc Reserva is a crisp and refreshing wine showing lime, pear and grapefruit flavours lifted by mineral tones. This crisp and refreshing Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is ideal when served as an aperitif or with most seafood as well as white meats. It's style is a cross between French Sauvignon and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in that it retains many of the tropical characteristics of it's Kiwi cousin but also the refinement of it's French counterpart.

Pioneering, energetic, cosmopolitan, elegant, innovative and contemporary, Vina Carmen was the first producer in Chile to specialize in organic grapes. They were responsible for identifying Carmenere, which had previously been thought of as Merlot. They were among the first to produce to acclaim premium Chilean wines. From the winery in the Maipo Valley, and using primary fruit from that area, as well as carefully-sited vineyards in Rapel, Casablanca and Curico, Carmen have produced a series of fruit-driven wines, stylish both in taste and look, which are stunning in their intensity and purity of their aromas.

Vinification
The must was cold macerated for 10 days at 3-4°C prior to a slow, gentle fermentation in stainless steel tanks at an average temperature of 12°C. Once the fermentation was complete, the wine remained on its lees for 2 months and was then devatted, blended, lightly filtered, and bottled.

Viticulture
The grapes were handpicked from the coolest areas of our estate vineyards in Casablanca. The warm days and cold nights allows grapes to ripen with a good balance of acidity and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Note
Attractive herb and tomato leaf with intense lime, grapefruit and passion fruit notes. Crisp and refreshing on the palate.

Everyday Serving Suggestion
Carmen Sauvignon Blanc Reserva can be enjoyed as an aperitif and with seafood, particularly oysters, shrimp, and fish, as well as white meats and salads.
