Champagne Moutard Cuvee Brut Prestige NV

The Cuvee Brut Prestige Champagne from Francois Moutard is an elegant Champagne which has a delicate mousse with a lovely, fine and biscuity character. Made from a blend of the two main Champagne Grapes, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay this Champagne displays a multitude of elegant biscuity characteristics. The finish is long and fine and the bubbles are small, always a sign of a great Champagne. Cuvee Prestige Champagne will pair beautifully with oysters, shellfish and delicately flavoured white fish. Its roundness and depth will also accompany dishes in a cream sauce and lightly spiced cuisine.

The Moutards have been making wine since 1642. Francois Moutard's 21-hectare vineyard is situated in Buxeuil at the extreme south east of Champagne on the Cote des Bar, the highest region in Champagne. Pinot Noir thrives particularly well on the clay and limestone soils. Francois is one of the few growers who still grow the Arbane grape; as he also grows the Petit Meslier, he is one of the very few vignerons who can produce a Champagne - 6 Cepages – which is made up of the six allowable grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Petit Meslier and Arbane.

Vinification
Aged for a minimum of three and a half years

Viticulture
10 – 20 year old vines. Vines are pruned during the first fortnight of March using the Chablis method for the Chardonnay and Guyot for the Pinot Noir. Vineyards are then ploughed and fertilised during the winter months. Hand harvested.

Tasting Note
Made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, this Champagne has a fine mousse with a lovely, fine and biscuity character on the nose and palate which lasts through to the finish. Very elegant.

Everyday Serving Suggestion
Champagne Moutard Cuvee Brut Prestige is best served chilled, not iced as an aperitif or to accompany seafood and fish dishes.
