Andre Brunel Rasteau Les Sambiches 2009

A family owned Estate comprising of 22 hectares in Chateauneuf du Pape and 11 hectares in the Cotes du Rhone. Andre Brunel makes wines from Estate grown grapes as well as grapes from his neighbouring growers that he tends in the vineyards. Brunel's hallmark is fruit emphasis with balanced tannins and the fruit flavours lingering through to a long finish.

Vinification
The grapes were sorted, de-stemmed and crushed. Each varietal was vinified separately. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled vats lasting 21 days with a daily stirring. The Syrah was then aged for 14 months in French oak barriques (1/3 new wood. 1/3in 1 year old and 1/3 in 2 year old). The Grenache was left to mature in vat. After 14 months the wines were blended and bottled.

Viticulture
Produced from some of the best hillside vineyards of the appellation where 40 year old Grenache and 20 year old Syrah vines reach a perfect maturity.

Tasting Note
Rich colour, full nose and palate showing ripe fruit. Ripe with a touch of balanced oak and some earthy tones through to a spicy finish of good length.

Everyday Serving Suggestion
Andre Brunel Rasteau Les Sambiches is best served at room temperature with grilled and roast red meats and cheese.
