Don David Reserve Malbec Michel Torino 2014

Don David Reserve Malbec is one of the most popular wines in the UK restaurant market. The use of oak in the production of this superb Malbec and the fact that the fruit is sourced from some of the highest vineyards in the world combine to produce a wine of great elegance and value. Don David Malbec Reserve really is one of the finest example of value that we at Wineman have ever come across and we recommend you buy Don David Malbec and experience this fact for yourself.

Michel Torino's vineyards in Salta, Cafayate, are among the highest in the world; 1,700m above sea level, basking in splendid isolation surrounded by desert and breathtaking mountain scenery. The vines get 350 days of sunshine, but at this altitude there is a consistent breeze to cool things down. This sunny but cool climate, combined with the rocky and sandy soil is an ideal environment for growing grapes. From the 2006 vintage, their vineyards have been certified as totally organic, but Michel Torino chooses only to bottle four wines as organic. Exceptional wines from a unique part of the world.

Vinification
Prefermentative macerations during 3 days at 5C. Intense works in order to gain good structure during alcoholic fermentation using 85% of selected yeasts. Post fermentations are handled up to a maximun of 30 days. After spontaneous malolactic fermentation, 70% of the wine is aged in small barrels of both American (40%) and French (60%) Oak during 12 months.

Viticulture
Pergola and VSP. Flood and drip irrigation. Handpicked. Yield: 8.000Kg/ha

Tasting Note
Don David Malbec 2014 has superb aromas of ripe red fruit combined with spices and toasty oak from it's oak ageing. The flavours are rich and complex with a delightful mid palate. This delicious Malbec is ideal with spicy meat dishes and it has lovely round and ripe tannins that make it a delight to drink on it's own or with food.

Everyday Serving Suggestion
We recommend serving this red wine at room temperature with a nice steak, especially Argentinean steak! It also pairs wonderfully with spicy meat dishes or rich paste dishes.

I first tried this wine at one of the top rated restaurants in St Helier, Jersey. It created a big impression with me and with my friends. I like good wine and made a note of this one, searched the net for it, found it at the Wineman and am now on my third case order! Really delicious, right down to the last lip-smacking drop.
Thanks for the review Nicholas, we think the Don David is a superb wine and one that we will continue to sell for many years
