Paula Sauvignon Blanc 2016

The Paula Sauvignon Blanc from the Dona Paula Estate is a fresh and zippy style of Sauvignon. Full of tropical fruit characters that don't overpower this is a superb white wine to serve on it's own yet it can also be served with most white meat dishes and seafood.

Winery information:

Dona Paula was established in 1997 and began exporting to the Netherlands, the UK, and the US in 2002. The estate winery currently owns 703 hectares of vineyards throughout Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes. They have been perfecting their Malbec since their establishment, beginning with their first vineyard in Ugarteche. It has utilised sustainable agriculture and organic practises throughout its tenure. Dona Paula wines have won a number of awards against other Argentinian wineries and gained status among professional wine tasters for their superior wines. It has benefited from an increase in demand from the US, Europe, and around the world for Argentinian wines. Exports to the US alone tripled between 2002 and 2006. Dona Paula wines meet the elusive ideals of terroir, variety, and lower production costs, allowing them to produce sustainable estate wines and offer them at a wonderful value to their customers.

Viticulture:
Sourced from Dona Paula's vineyards in Tupungato, Uco Valley at 1,000m above sea level. These vines are drip irrigatged and trained using the espalier method.

Soil:
Sandy-Loam

Vinification:
Picked at the end of March, the grapes are completely destemmed and then partially crushed. Must is cooled to reduce the temperature immediately after crushing and maintain flavors and aromas, by reducing the level of SO2. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature controlled concrete tanks, for ten days at 22C with peaks of 28C for full diffusion of skin components. Total maceration period of 15 days. Natural malolactic fermentation takes place at 16C.

Tasting Note:
This fresh, attractive Sauvignon Blanc shows intense aromas of yellow grapefruit, lime and passion fruit that are well integrated with gooseberry and herbal notes. On the palate, this is a wine with great freshness and vey long aftertaste.

Every day serving suggestion:
On its own or with seafood and white meats.
