El Camino Torrontes Sauvignon Blanc 2015

The El Camino Torrontes Sauvignon Blanc is a delightful blend of two white varietals that combine together wonderfully to produce a white wine that is both zesty and peachy. This is a great value for money wine which is great if served as an aperatif or when paired with Thai cuisine or any food with a little heat from the ingredients.

El Camino - the King's Highway - threads mythically through the foothills of the majestic Andes among vineyards famed the world over for the purity of their growing conditions. It is a combination of these superb vineyard sites, the dedication and expertise of the local viticulturists and winemakers and a touch of European know-how that go into the production of the El Camino wines.

Vintage

2015 in Mendoza caught the tail end of the unusual weather that hit South America, with its floods and volcanic eruptions mainly affecting Chile. Mendoza did not escape though, with the vintage being unusually wet and warm, creating humid conditions - a rarity in this normally dry climate. Hail adversely affected some vineyards. Harvest time became extremely important this year, getting the timing right to avoid the rain and with an earlier harvest than usual, ensuring the grapes had reached a good phenolic maturity and typicity.

Vineyard

The soils have been deposited over thousands of years by the region's four rivers and are low in organic matter and are relatively free draining, making them low in fertility. They are mainly Alluvial with clay substructure.

Winemaking

Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas.

Tasting Note

A winning and refreshing combination of zesty Sauvignon with the spice and peachy flavours of Torrontes,

Serving Suggestion

This is a versatile little number, perfect for drinking on its own or is delicious with white fish, salads and works very well with Japanese, Thai or Chinese cuisine.
