Domaine de Georges Bertrand Blanc AOP Corbieres Boutenac 2016

Winery Information:
One of the most dynamic and brilliant winemakers from the South of France, where he owns no less than seven estates among the most prestigious terroirs of Languedoc Roussillon, Gérard Bertrand was named in 2012 as the ""European Winery of the Year"" by Wine Enthusiast and ""Red Wine Maker of the Year"" by the IWC.

Viticulture:
The Domaine Georges Bertrand was bought by Gerard Bertrand's father, Georges in 1970 and was lovingly shared and cultivated by both father and son for 15 years. The exceptional soils of the domaine encourage the varietal to develop a deep root system which helps greatly in producing wines of fine quality as well as protecting the vine from the excesses of the mediterranean climate such as hydric stress and violent storms Average yield 35h/ha.

Soil:
Miocene stones.

Vinification:
The grapes are transported from the vineyard to the cellars on the Domaine in a box to preserve their condition and to avoid any natural crushing. The grapes are pressed immediately in a pneumatic press and the juice setttles for 48 hours followed by a cold (5c) ""debourbage"". The wine is fermented on lees in French oak barrels at a controlled termperature of 18c to 20c to preserve freshness and aromas, daily stirring during the fermentation and weekly afterwards.

Tasting Note:
Opaque pale yellow. Bouquet of toasted oak and minerals with a dominance of tropical fruit. Engaging, elegant palate, perfectly balanced; fresh and round, lively yet smooth, full-bodied yet light and easy to drink. Long, attractive finish.

Every day serving suggestion:
Can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with fish, poultry and cheeses.
