Gerard Bertrand La Forge AOP Corbieres Boutenac 2014

Winery Information:
One of the most dynamic and brilliant winemakers from the South of France, where he owns no less than seven estates among the most prestigious terroirs of Languedoc Roussillon, Gérard Bertrand was named in 2012 as the ""European Winery of the Year"" by Wine Enthusiast and ""Red Wine Maker of the Year"" by the IWC.

Viticulture:
The remarkable quality of this wine resides in the exceptional quality of the grapes. The Carignan grapes are 80 years old, and the Syrah 20 years old. Green harvesting is used to stictly control the yield (25hl/ha) and to allow the grapes to develop fuly to give a full, concentrated juice.

Soil:
Miocene stones

Vinification:
After manual harvesting, the wine is then put into Bordelaise barrels of 225 litres for 10-12 months. This wine is neither pressed nor filtered before being bottled; the bottles are then conserved for 12 months before being commercialised.

Tasting Note:
Deep matured cherry colour, an explosive nose opens onto grilled toast spices and clove. With a sugar rush, the palate reveals powerful and elegant aromas, reminiscent of cooked red fruits. This is an exceptional wine with soft tannins and a spicy after taste.

Every day serving suggestion:
Enjoy with grilled red meats, Mediterranean dishes and mature cheese.
