Winery Information: Frustrated at paying too high a price for the type of nondescript wine which all too often masquerades as good Burgundy? So were we! Lucien M aims to take the pain out of this beguiling but frustrating region. We have sought out some of the finest growers in the region to try to capture the essence of each appellation. We have limited our first release to just three wines, seeking to produce the finest possible quality. Stylishly presented, we absolutely guarantee these wines will show that you don‘t have to pay a fortune for real Burgundy. Pinot Noir is the essence of Burgundy. We chose this wine after exhaustive tastings throughout the region with some excellent young winemakers. We were after a consistency of flavour and a degree of typicity difficult to find in a wine of this price.
Viticulture: Selected growers and vineyards were visited, primarily in the southern region of Burgundy. Traditional Burgundy vineyard practices were observed.
Vinification: Partially destemmed and then traditionally made with a 12 day vatting period followed by partial ageing in oak barrels.
Tasting Note: This is a fruit-driven wine with juicy, expressive Pinot character, lovely ripe red berries on the nose and palate and a savoury finish.
Every day serving suggestion: Lucien M Bourgogne Pinot Noir is best with game or lamb served with mushrooms or rich savoury sauces.
