Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2010
One of the major and largest vine growing businesses in Europe, Frescobaldi owns nine estates covering over 1,000 ha of vineyards, all located in excellent areas for fine wines. Directly managed by its family members, Frescobaldi produces almost 7 million bottles and the wines are exported to over 60 countries throughout the world. The Frescobaldi name goes back many centuries into the history of art, culture, trade and finance of Italy in general and Tuscany in particular. Vinification
The grapes were hand harvested with cluster selection during the first week of October and then pressed using soft horizontal presses. . Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at less than 30C and lasted 10 days. Maceration lasted 30 days. Immediately after alcoholic fermentation malolactic fermentation took place.
Viticulture
Spur pruned cordon vines with an average age of 15 years old. High density planting with 5,500 vines per hectare in the vineyards.
Tasting Note
Red berries, rich spice, black pepper and cinnamon on the nose; in the mouth the wine is well structured, complex and balanced with a warm and persistent finish.
Everyday Serving Suggestion
Frescobaldi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is best served with red meat, roast game, and mature cheese.
