Teusner Righteous FG Shiraz 2012.
Think of the biggest and boldest Barossa Shiraz you have ever tried and then make it better! Thisis what Teusner Wines have done with their iconic Righeous FG Shiraz. The is a beast of a red wine and one that needs to be approached with care. Expect massive intensity of fruit, buckets of flavours and sublime concentration.
Set up by Kym Teusner and Michael Page in 2001, Teusner’s philosophy is to produce only exceptional, affordable wines by being very selective about the fruit that is sourced from old, well maintained vineyards. These vineyards reliably produce balanced, complex fruit which are guided, with minimal inputs, into wine. “Teusner was started by doing what we love, we never mapped it out to be so big. We started small and rode thewave and this is where we’ve ended. These are wines that we love to drink” explains Winemaker Kym Teusner.
2012 was "a cracker of a year" and was up there with the best that Kym Teusner has ever seen.
Sourced from a network of friends of Kym Teusner's throughout the Barossa Valley, some of the best Shiraz in the Barossa is selected for this cuvee. The grapes are grown on weather beaten old vines, that endure year after year in tough soils and produce tiny crops of small berries jumping with flavour.
The grapes were carefully selected and then received the "Rolls Royce" treatment all the way! Fermentation took place in open vats with twice daily pumpovers, before being rested in a mixture of new French oak (50%) and some older seasoned barrels.
Massive intensity and concentration are behind this top cuvee from Teusner. Kym Teusner holds nothing back from this high scoring beast of a Shiraz. This benchmark style is what makes Barossa famous.
This has the intensity to match venison or game stews or classic roast beef with all the trimmings.
