Teusner Woodside Sauvignon Blanc 2014.
The Woodside Sauvignon Blanc from Teusner wines is a phenomenal white wine from the cool climate Adelaide Hills region of Australia. The addition of a touch of Semillon gives this wine an extra twist of lime zest and makes it a super wine to serve on it's own or with selected fish dishes.
Set up by Kym Teusner and Michael Page in 2001, Teusner’s philosophy is to produce only exceptional, affordable wines by being very selective about the fruit that is sourced from old, well maintained vineyards. These vineyards reliably produce balanced, complex fruit which are guided, with minimal inputs, into wine. “Teusner was started by doing what we love, we never mapped it out to be so big. We started small and rode the wave and this is where we’ve ended. These are wines that we love to drink” explains Winemaker Kym Teusner.
The vineyard sits at an altitude of 360 metres above sea level, in Woodside, Adelaide hills region. The vineyard traverses a hill with easterly and westerly aspects. The easterly vines yield flint, struck match notes while the westerly vines are more tropical. The vines are 12 years old and are picked at night.
The grapes were cool fermented in stainless steel over a period of four weeks with a floral yeast to enhance the varietal characteristics. 5% of barrel fermented Barossa Valley Semillon was blended in to fill the palate, adding both texture and savoury notes to the final wine.
5% Barossa Valley Semillon gives this wine a necessary spine of weighty and lime zest notes. Very refreshing, bright and enormously enjoyable aperitif.
A great match with an onion pakora or roasted sea bream
