Cabernet Sauvignon

A selection of Cabernet Sauvignon wines

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes make a full bodied red wine which is normally blackcurrant in taste and dark red in colour. Cabernet is one of the world's most recognised grape varieties and it is cultivated in almost ever wine growing country. It is one of the main grape varieties used in Bordeaux where it is blended with the other recognised Bordeaux varietals of Merlot and Cabernet France.

Cabernet Sauvignon grows especially well in Australia and Bob berton makes a superb example of this grape variety. California has also achieved great accolades for it's Cabernet's and they are amoungst the most expensive examples of this grape. It is a relatively late ripening varietal and although it can grow in a variety of climates and soils it grows well in gravel based soils such as those in the Medoc area of Bordeaux.
