Champagne

A selection of superb Champagne from France.

The selection includes marvellous Champagnes from Francois Moutard and Iconic Grand Marque Champagnes such as Pol Roger,  Louis Roederer and boutique Champagnes from Mark Hebrart and Francoise Bedel. Champagne is the original sparkling wine and for a sparkling wine to be called Champagne it must be from the Champagne region of France. The grapes must be grown there and the wine has to be made by "Method Champaignois". Any other sparkling wine needs to be either called sparkling wine or another name. Prosecco is an example of this where it must come from Italy and is made using the same method as Champagne but is known as Prosecco.

Champagne uses up to six permitted grape varieties in the blend, but the usual big three are used in the majority of this wine. The six permitted varietals are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meurnier, Arbane, Petit Mesilier and Pinot Blanc.
