Valpolicella or Corvina

A selection of wines made from Corvina grape variety and known as Valpolicella

Valpolicella wines are generally lighter red wines in style, Corvina is the grape variety used but most people know this as Valpolicella but this is actually an area in the province of Verona near Lake Garda. Valpolicella is thought of as beinga  lighter style of red wine but it can also be a beast of a wine in the form of Amarone and even a sweet wine known as Ripasso or recioto. Valpolicella is actually mostly a blend of 3 different grape varieties, Corvina Veronese, Molinara and Rondinella. Depending on the style of wine made with this grape the flavours will change dramatically.
