White wines from the Veneto Area of Italy

The Veneto region of Italy is one of the most substantial areas for wine production in the country. The region is of Vento has three main growing areas and each sub region has it's own graoes varietals that are grown.

The first sub region of Veneto is the central area. The main white grapes grown in this region are Pinot Grigio and Tocai Friulano. This is quite possibly Italy's highest producing region for Pinot Grigio.

The second sub region is in the north west of Veneto alomg the foothills of the alps and near Lake Garda. The main white wine grapes grown here are Garganega and Trebbiano. These grapes make fresh, crisp white wines.

The third sub region is in the north east of Veneto where the main grape grown is Glera which is the sole grape used in the making of Prosecco.
