5/55/55/55/55/5 | Chablis of the Mediterranean
SimonP | 25/05/2021
Santorini Assyrtiko has long been a favourite of mine, and this is a terrific example. The Chablis comparison, that unsurprisingly came from a Greek contact, is well jusitfied. It has some complexity and nice balance of acidity. Drink it with fish dishes (preferably on a Greek island with a BBQ fish dinner at sunset). It's not cheap, but worht every penny.

4/54/54/54/54/5 | Rhone bargain
SimonP | 25/05/2021
This comes from just across the river from Chateauneuf du Pape, but has a lighter, but similar, style. I rarely buy ChduP as I find it overpriced, but this is much better value and more to my taste. Good with stongly flavoured southern dishes.

4/54/54/54/54/5 | Taste of southern Italy
SimonP | 25/05/2021
This was recommendation from Kevin, and it certainly delivers. It's not a noble grape or from a fancy area, but just a really well-made italian red with load of flavour. It suits strong meaty dishes, preferably Italian with garlic and tomato

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Lovely red bordeaux at good price
SimonP | 25/05/2021
This is a second wine from the Chateau, but you wouldn't think it after drinking some. It is full of fruit and complex flavours, while retaining a remarkable smoothness. We had one with a fillet steak a couple of days ago but lamb would be great too.

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Brilliant
SimonP | 25/05/2021
This was another Kevin recommendation. We don't normally go this high in price for wine, except for the occasional more upmarket Bordeaux Chateau, but we were not disappointed. If you like those really expensive souther Rhone wines, like Cote Rotie etc., but can't afford the price, then give this a try. It's got great intensity and all sorts of flavours, but remains silky smooth. We would have this again, when we feel like splashing out a bit. Imgine you are Provence with a strong dinner in front of you.

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Montepulciano in spades
SimonP | 25/05/2021
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is typically an enjoyable, lightweight red to pair with a nice pizza. That's fine, we have often enjoyed one of those, but this is a step up from the usual. We labelled it Montepulciano on steroids. It is clearly the same basic wine, but with so much more depth, and more flavours, than the usual. It may be a bit more than the average price you pay for its lightweight cousins but still a bit of a bargain.

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Classic Cissac
SimonP | 25/05/2021
This is a really reliable, middle of the road classic red Bordeaux. We have had this many times over the years and it never disappoints. It's very reasonable at the price.

4/54/54/54/54/5 | Not your average sauvignon blanc
SimonP | 25/05/2021
We often have a Loire saugignon blanc with white fish, usually Sancerre in our case, i.e. very freach and clean with a touch of lemon on the finish. This Groot Constantia was another of Kevin's recommendations, and, as such, is very good. We wondered if it would be a bit more like the New Zealand versions, with a fesh-mown grass effect, but it is something different. The Groot C is complex for a Sav Blanc, and it does have a bit of the grassiness, but there is so much more here. We got herbs, flowers and lime too. One can see why it won a prize, as it has so much in it. I would drink it on its own to enjoy it in full.

4/54/54/54/54/5 | Good Chablis
SimonP | 19/06/2021
A very nice Chablis, with a citrous edge and good depth

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Excellent Loire red
SimonP | 19/06/2021
Red wines from the Loire then to be underrated in the UK, while Parisians drink a lot of them. While many are light, this one is form one of the best areas and has a great depth of fruit. It's pne of our favourites.

4/54/54/54/54/5 | Typically Italian
SimonP | 25/06/2021
This is a lovely wine, smooth and fruity with hints of cherry, and typical of wine you would get in a good Italian restaurant. We found it hard not to fiich one bottle and look for another. A perfect match to Italian dishes like pasta, cured meat, things with grille cheese on the top...etc. Close you eyes and think of Italy. Kevin's video review is spot on.

5/55/55/55/55/5 | Brilliant

We just had a bottle of this, and Kevin is spot on, it's brilliant!
